Gist Privacy Policy

Gist ("the App") is developed by Jutco Industries LLC. This privacy policy describes how the App handles your information.

The Short Version

Gist does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. All processing happens entirely on your Mac.

Data Collection

Gist collects no data of any kind. Specifically:

• No personal information is collected
• No usage analytics or telemetry are collected
• No crash reports are sent
• No files or file contents are transmitted off your device
• No network connections are made by the App
• No cookies or tracking technologies are used
• No third-party SDKs, analytics frameworks, or advertising networks are integrated

How Gist Processes Your Files

All file analysis — including text extraction, OCR, entity recognition, AI-powered name generation, and file renaming — occurs entirely on your Mac using Apple's on-device frameworks (Foundation Models, Vision, Natural Language, and PDFKit). No file content is ever transmitted to any server, cloud service, or third party.

Local Data Storage

Gist stores a rename history file (rename_history.json) in the App's sandboxed Application Support directory on your Mac. This file contains a log of original and new filenames, timestamps, and directory bookmark data used for the undo feature. This data is stored only on your device, is never transmitted, and you can clear it at any time from the History pane within the App. The file is located at:

~/Library/Containers/com.computarmachine.Gist/Data/Library/Application Support/Gist/rename_history.json

App preferences (such as maximum filename length, sound settings, and pane visibility) are stored in the standard macOS UserDefaults system on your device.

Data Sharing

Gist does not share any data with any third party, including Apple, advertisers, analytics providers, or any other entity.

Data Retention and Deletion

Rename history is stored locally until you clear it using the "Clear" button in the History pane. Uninstalling the App removes the application. To remove all associated data, also delete the App's container at ~/Library/Containers/com.computarmachine.Gist/.

Children's Privacy

Gist does not collect any data from any user, including children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy is updated, the revised version will be posted at this URL with a new "Last updated" date.

Jurisdiction

This privacy policy is governed by the laws of the State of California. Any disputes arising under this policy shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the State of California.
